I am not a football strategist. My observation from the Malaysian Cup final last night may be right or to the contrary, wrong.
Kelantan seemed to deploy 4-3-3 formation. This formation works best when a team is going forward and attempting to win a match, rather than simply trying to contain the opposition. The strategy backlash in the first half when not enough defenders were in the goal area forcing the goal keeper to tackle hard the opposite striker that resulted in the penalty score.
Perhaps in the second half, The formation relies on the striker to play in the right and the left wing and passed the ball to the center of the formation, capable of scoring the ball up using the head and resulted to the first Kelantan’s goal. The second goal’s kick-on-running style was entertaining and the players have to be congratulated for their hard work.
All-in-all, I enjoyed the game and they deserved to be the winner.
