Comment:
I believe that it is a mistake to assume that Taliban can be defeated by sending more troops to Afghanistan. Leaving everything to the generals to make decision is also a mistake. When America is forcing it’s way, Taliban is winning the heart and soul of the uneducated, illiterate poor Afghan people. America has to use multidisciplinary strategy through sociocultural and socioeconomic amelioration despite keeping law and order which can be left alone to the internal Afghan forces. It may take 20 years like the battle with the Communist in Malaysia but the results are promising and heartening. This country has to be modernized and it is difficult to engage people who only know violence as the only way to solve problems. Like it or not, educational reform is the way forward to solve Afghan’s dilemma.
